Karen studied photography at the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity and completed a degree in Art History at UVIC. She has travelled widely, photographing and working as a psychotherapist in India, Bhutan and most recently, Baffin Island. Recent exhibits include “Into Blossom Rain”, and “The Other Side of Silence” for the EXPOSURE Photography Festival in Alberta. In 2015, Karen had a solo exhibit at the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies, entitled “Everything Sings: Images from Here and There” and in 2016 she exhibited in a two person show at the Elevation Gallery in Canmore, Alberta. An exhibit of her work was featured at the Banff Mountain Film & Book Festival in 2016/17 and in 2018 she exhibited at Gallery Merrick in Nanaimo. Her documentary film, Shining Spirit: The Musical Journey of Jamyang Yeshi (2009) was screened at festivals around the world. Karen works out of her home studio at Shawnigan Lake.
